Disarmament and International Security Committee
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), or First Committee, focuses on disarmament, global challenges, and threats to peace that impact the international community, and aims to resolve the challenges in the international security regime. It reviews all disarmament and international security matters within the extent of the UN Charter, or concerning the powers and responsibilities of any other department of the United Nations; the general rules of cooperation in the maintenance of international security and peace, as well as principles governing disarmament and the regulation of armaments.
