Economic and Social Council
The United Nations Economic and Social Council, established in 1945 is one of the six principal organs of the UN. It serves as a forum for the discussion of various international economic and social issues, with a focus on sustainable development, as well as the formulation of policy recommendations addressed to member states and the UN System. It is responsible for the direction and coordination of the economic, social, humanitarian, and cultural work carried out by the UN.
