The United Nations Security Council
The UNSC, or the United Nations Security Council, is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations and was created to guard international peace and security. It is the only body of the UN that can take actionable decisions which are legally binding. The UNSC comprises of 15 member states, 5 permanent members, and 10 non-permanent members who are elected every two years. The 5 permanent members have something known as the veto power, which allows them to override any passed resolutions. Notably, the United Nations has passed a total of 2685 resolutions.
